This versatile red blend pairs well with grilled meats, hearty stews, and mature cheeses. Its rich fruit profile and balanced structure complement dishes like lamb chops, beef brisket, and aged cheddar.

The 2021 vintage marks the 20th release of this iconic wine. The growing season experienced moderate weather conditions, with beneficial rainfall during flowering and fruit set, leading to optimal grape quality. The cooler season allowed for a slow, extended ripening period. Grapes were sourced primarily from the Swartland region, with Syrah and Cinsault from Porseleinberg and Goldmine farms, and Grenache from old vines in Riebeek Kasteel.

The wine was matured in 2,500-liter French oak foudres and 600-liter demi-muids for 12 months, with 2,349 barrels produced.

Boekenhoutskloof was established in 1776. Located in the furthest corner of the beautiful Franschhoek valley the farm’s name means “ravine of the Boekenhout” (pronounced Book-n-Howed). Boekenhout is an indigenous Cape Beech tree greatly prized for furniture making. In 1993 the farm and homestead was bought and restored and a new vineyard planting programme was established that now includes Syrah Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc Grenache Semillon and Viognier.
