Boekenhoutskloof was established in 1776. Located in the furthest corner of the beautiful Franschhoek valley the farm’s name means “ravine of the Boekenhout” (pronounced Book-n-Howed). Boekenhout is an indigenous Cape Beech tree greatly prized for furniture making. In 1993 the farm and homestead was bought and restored and a new vineyard planting programme was established that now includes Syrah Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc Grenache Semillon and Viognier.
Description
This wine presents a deep, dark color with a complex bouquet of black currant, licorice root, cedar, and tobacco leaf. On the palate, it offers a pure beam of cassis and black cherry flavors, supported by fresh acidity and fine-grained tannins, leading to a long, savory finish.
Food Pairing
The robust structure and rich flavors of this Cabernet Sauvignon make it an excellent match for hearty dishes such as grilled beef, venison stew, and lamb chops. Its complexity also complements aged cheeses and roasted vegetables.
