A refined expression of Helderberg terroir, this wine reveals a deep garnet hue and an aromatic nose of blackcurrant, dark cherry, and blueberry, lifted by redcurrant vibrancy. The palate offers lush black fruit with earthy mulberry, balanced by vibrant acidity and fine, chalky tannins. Subtle notes of cedar, graphite, cigar box, and dark chocolate add complexity, while the long finish lingers with espresso, oak spice, and ripe fruit. Expressive in youth, this Cabernet will evolve gracefully, gaining nuance and silkiness over time.

Avontuur

Avontuur Wine Estate is a renowned wine estate and thoroughbred horse breeding farm located in the Helderberg region near Somerset West, in the Western Cape of South Africa. The estate is one of the few properties in South Africa that combines premium wine production with elite horse breeding, making it a unique destination in the Cape winelands. The estate dates back to the late 17th century, with a long agricultural history rooted in the Cape’s early farming traditions. Avontuur gained prominence under the ownership of the Taberer family, who developed both the winery and horse stud into internationally recognized operations. Avontuur is particularly respected for producing Bordeaux-style red wines and premium white wines, benefiting from the estate’s proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and the cooling maritime influence of False Bay. The vineyards are planted on granite and shale soils, ideal for producing structured and elegant wines.
