Master Distiller Helmut Wilderer, the father of South African craft spirits, personally hand selected 27 indigenous botanicals of which many belong to the Cape Fynbos Floral Kingdom. Flowers, berries, barks, peels, roots, stems and leaves ranging from rose petals to Renosterbos all come together in harmony. Fresh ingredients and flowers are hand-picked from the estate’s gardens, while specialized Fynbos species and other herbs are sustainably harvested and include: the famous Buchu Betulina, which has been used as a traditional South African medicine for hundreds of years and provides a distinctive herbal aroma and taste. Wild Dagga's active ingredient: leonurine has been proven to improve myocardial function and is also used as a recreational remedy for high blood pressure and stress. Honeybush provides further depth and complex flavour to this full-bodied gin.

Wilderer Pinotage Grappa is a luxurious, barrel-aged spirit distilled from the skins of the Pinotage grape. It reveals rich and warming aromas of vanilla, dark cherry, roasted coffee, and toasted oak, showcasing the depth of the uniquely South African varietal. The influence of French oak maturation brings elegant complexity, with a velvety mouthfeel and long, smooth finish.

Nose:

Opens with an enticing bouquet of vanilla, red berries, and sweet wood smoke, underpinned by chocolate and subtle spice.

Palate:

Silky and balanced with layers of cherry liqueur, espresso roast, and cedar. The oak-aging imparts a gentle roundness and sweetness that harmonizes with the grappa’s natural intensity.

Finish:

The finish is long, warm, and refined, featuring a soft vanilla-oak tail with lingering hints of coffee and spice.

Awards:

Gold Medal – Vitis Vinifera Awards (2022, awarded 2023)
