Three Ships Whisky is a renowned South African whisky brand, produced at the James Sedgwick Distillery in Wellington, Western Cape. The distillery, which started in 1886, is unique for producing both malt and grain whiskies at the same location. Owned by Distell, a leading South African brewing and beverage company, Three Ships showcases a range of blended and single malt whiskies.
This whisky is part of the Three Ships Master's Collection and was matured for nine years, including an initial five years in ex-American oak casks followed by four years in ex-Fino sherry casks. A limited release, only 2,940 bottles were produced.
Nose:
It presents an intriguing mix of smoke and peat combined with sweeter elements like figs, pineapple, orange peel, along with pepper and spice, offering a unique and balanced aroma.
Palate:
The palate is equally engaging with layers of peat, treacle syrup, and tobacco. Spice and a playful nuttiness also make a significant presence, creating a deep and textured taste.
Finish:
It finishes long and warm with lingering notes of tropical fruits, almonds, and a soft, smoky feel, leaving a memorable impression.
