The Tempest Gin embodies the dramatic nature of the Cape of storms and the abundance of the richest floral kingdom on earth. Grape spirit and hand-harvested, seasonal, fynbos botanicals are infused and distilled to reflect each unique season. The name is derived from the latin term tempus meaning time & season and tempestas meaning a violent windstorm frequently accompanied by rain, snow or hail. Plaisir Wine Estate - Home of The Tempest Gin - is a WWF Conservation Champion and all the botanicals that are hand-harvested for The Tempest Gin are done sustainably to keep the biodiversity of the farm alive. The fynbos on the Simonsberg Mountain range changes dramatically throughout the year and each season has a completely different and unique expression. The fynbos plants change texture, smell and essence and capturing these changes in a bottle is why each season of the Tempest is different and unique and characterized in bottles of different colours denoting each season. The result - a small-batch signature gin for each season, deeply rooted in the Cape and a holistic celebration and reminder of what the Cape of Storms is and represents
This citrus-forward gin bursts open with nostalgic naartjie peel notes that is underpinned by subtle juniper and distinct herbal aromas. The rosemary component reminds of pine and lemon-thyme while the African wormwood provides an earthiness to the nose. Buchu aromas evoke the sensation of walking through a dry veldt. Sweet, full-bodied, and balanced, this soft gin speaks of superior quality.
