Built in 1897, the last of seven distilleries founded in Dufftown, Glendullan was the brainchild of blenders from Aberdeen by the name of William Williams and sons. With solid business acumen and a private railway siding, the Williams gave Glendullan a healthy start in life. So solid in fact that it took the barley shortages of the Second World War to halt production – though the momentous world event caused only a seven year blip in the history of this exceptional malt.
The Singleton of Glen Ord 14 Year Old "Autumn Walk" is a 2024 Special Release from Diageo's "Spirited Xchange" series. This Highland single malt Scotch whisky showcases a unique maturation process and offers a distinctive flavor profile.
Nose:
Aromas of orange cream cake, transitioning to orange sponge cake with hints of vanilla and flaked almonds. Subtle green notes reminiscent of sugar snap peas add complexity.
Palate:
Creamy and tooth-coating, it starts sweet with notes of Seville orange peel, then becomes tart and spicy, featuring ginger and black pepper. A drop of water enhances the sweetness and reduces tartness without altering the overall profile.
Finish:
Long, warming, and spicy, with a mouth-cooling aftertaste. The spiciness persists even with the addition of water.
