Six Dogs Distillery is an innovative craft gin distillery located in the little valley of De Wet, near the edge of the Karoo in South Africa. The distillery is known for its small batch, handcrafted gins that are distilled using a combination of traditional and modern techniques. The founders, Charles Bryant and his team, began their distillery journey with a makeshift still in a shed, and have since developed a range of unique gins that include Six Dogs Karoo, Blue, and Pinotage Stained, as well as Honey Lime Gin. These gins incorporate local botanicals and are celebrated for their distinctive flavours and high quality.
Six Dogs Pinotage Gin combines the essence of traditional gin botanicals with the unique addition of Pinotage grapes, offering a rich and deeply flavourful experience. The aroma is marked by a blend of cardamom and juniper, complemented by the sweet, berry-like scents characteristic of Pinotage. On the palate, this gin features lush notes of black cherry and plum, enhanced by the richness of blackcurrant and a subtle hint of tannins, reflecting its vinous heritage. The finish is long and fruit-forward, leaving a lasting impression of the infused grapes. This gin's complex profile is naturally coloured and flavoured by the grapes, creating a seamless and intriguing blend of gin and wine characteristics.
