The Sexton Single Malt is an Irish whiskey crafted by master blender Alex Thomas. Made exclusively from Irish malted barley, it is triple-distilled in copper pot stills and aged in Oloroso sherry casks. This aging process lends the whiskey a rich and fruity character, enhancing its smoothness and depth of flavour. The Sexton is known for its unique packaging, featuring a hexagonal black bottle adorned with a skeleton motif, designed to capture the attention and imagination of a modern audience. It is characterized by its approachability and versatility, suitable for enjoying neat, on the rocks, or as part of various cocktails.
The Sexton Single Malt Irish Whiskey entices the senses with a complex array of aromas and flavours. The nose opens with vibrant fruity notes of apricot and lemon zest, alongside unexpected hints of prunes and a subtle cheesy rind, adding a unique twist. On the palate, it is smooth and approachable, featuring a light sweetness influenced by its aging in Oloroso sherry casks, with flavours of bold nougat and spicy almond complemented by toasty malt undertones. The finish is nuanced, with lingering notes of nutty and wine-like characteristics that echo the influence of the sherry casks. This whiskey offers a rich and unconventional flavour profile that makes it a memorable choice for enthusiasts looking for something beyond the ordinary.
