The whisky is notable for its use of 100% local South African maize, which includes yellow maize, sorghum, rye, and barley. This unique grain bill emphasizes the rich agricultural heritage of the region. The maturation process involves locally sourced ex-red wine barrels that are reconditioned and heavily charred, imparting distinctive flavours to the whisky.
