Hendrick's Gin, a distinctive brand known for its unique take on the traditional gin formula, was introduced in 1999 by William Grant & Sons, a Scottish family-owned distillery. It was created by master distiller Lesley Gracie, whose innovative approach to gin production has garnered significant acclaim. Hendrick's is produced in small batches using two different types of stills—the Bennett still and the Carter-Head still, which impart different flavor profiles to the gin. This process is complemented by the infusion of cucumber and rose petals, giving Hendrick's its signature flavor.
Hendrick's Neptunia Gin is a limited-edition release that draws inspiration from the sea, incorporating coastal botanicals to create a distinctive flavor profile. Here are the tasting notes for Hendrick's.
Nose:
The aroma features a mix of sea kelp and saline, giving it a maritime character. This is complemented by a bright citrus presence, and touches of herbal and floral notes such as chamomile, enhancing its complexity.
Palate:
Citrus elements are pronounced throughout the tasting experience, starting with orange zest that transitions into herbal and green juniper flavors. Mid-palate, you can detect a pronounced juniper presence that becomes greener, accompanied by kelp, thyme, and some vegetal undertone.
Finish:
The finish is quite dry, potentially hinting at actual saline. It leaves a warm sensation on the palate, with lingering notes of chamomile flowers, spices, and herbs.
