In 1973, Nonino became the first company to produce a commercial grappa from a single grape variety by creating a liquor using only the Picolit grape. In 1984, the company produced the first whole-grape distillate, which they marketed as Ue. Nonino also founded the International Nonino Prize literary prize.
This grappa is produced from fresh Merlot grape pomace, selected from dedicated growing zones. The artisanal distillation process, which takes place in copper steam stills, ensures that the volatile components responsible for the grappa's fragrances are carefully preserved. This method contributes to the spirit's crystalline appearance and enhances its elegant and complex aroma.
Nose:
Grappa Nonino Merlot 43 presents a beautifully clear and enticing aroma marked by notes of rose petals and cherry stones. This fresh bouquet is reminiscent of the fragrance during must pressing, suggesting a vibrant and fragrant start.
Palate:
On the palate, this grappa is soft and round, offering a harmonious blend of the same floral and fruity elements noted in its aroma. The taste carries a subtlety that complements its smooth texture, making it a pleasure to sip.
Finish:
The finish of Grappa Nonino Merlot 43 is likely as elegant as its initial taste, rounding out the tasting experience with a clean and pleasing aftertaste that reflects its artisanal distillation process.
