Scotch Whisky Liqueur

Drambuie offers a pleasant array of scents, with dominant notes of honeyed whisky and herbal accents. The aroma is further enhanced by subtle hints of spices such as cloves, cinnamon, and saffron, contributing to its distinct character.

On tasting, Drambuie reveals an intense sweetness primarily driven by golden honey. The smooth texture of the liqueur nicely masks its high proof, providing a rich mouthfeel. This sweetness is balanced by the robust character of the Scotch, delivering a warm and smoky undertone. The blend of herbs and spices, including heather and possibly anise and orange peel, adds depth and complexity.

The finish of Drambuie is enduring, with the sweet notes gradually giving way to the lasting spice, maintaining the herbal and smoky qualities to the end.

Drambuie is a renowned Scotch whisky liqueur with a rich history that dates back to the 18th century. The brand claims its origins are connected to Bonnie Prince Charlie of Scotland, who supposedly gave his secret recipe for the liqueur to Captain John MacKinnon as a reward for loyalty after the Battle of Culloden in 1746. This recipe, which includes a blend of aged Scotch whisky, heather honey, herbs, and spices, was passed down through generations until it was commercialized in the 20th century.
