Named after its founder Don Julio González, Don Julio Tequila was founded in Jalisco when González began distilling tequila in 1942 - he was 17 at the time. Initially made to share with his close friends and family, the popularity and quality of his tequila spread and gave room for the business to grow.
Don Julio Reposado is aged for eight months in American white-oak barrels, which imparts a golden amber color and contributes to its smooth and rich finish. It's often enjoyed in a variety of cocktails but is also perfect for sipping neat or on the rocks due to its refined character.
Nose:
Don Julio Reposado offers an inviting aroma that combines mellow lemon citrus notes with spicy and ripe stone fruit layers. Hints of caramel and vanilla add to the richness, creating a warm and inviting bouquet.
Palate:
On the palate, this tequila is soft and elegant, featuring flavors of dark chocolate, vanilla, and light cinnamon. The tequila is noted for its sweetness, balanced by a subtle oakiness, making it both refined and approachable.
Finish:
The finish is silky and warm, characterized by notes of dried fruit, nuts, and a touch of caramel apple. It leaves a lasting impression that's both sweet and complex, embodying the rich flavor profile typical of aged tequilas.
