Diplomático’s distillery lies at the feet of the Andes Mountains in Venezuela, a privileged location for rum making. The area boasts great conditions for sugar cane growth and for rum production, with fertile lands, abundant water and a tropical weather. Established in 1959, the distillery is unique as it houses three different distillation processes that are combined to deliver unique rums. It has also been a pioneer in the implementation of sustainable practices throughout the rum-making process.
This premium dark mixing rum is named for Don Jauncho’s status as a “mantuano” – a local nobleman – who used his position of influence to benefit the development of his local region. This aged, blended rum is superbly balanced and has a taste profile that not only makes it ideal for mixing in cocktails but will also appeal to those who prefer to drink it neat.
Nose:
Aromas of dried plums, oak and delicate spiciness.
Palate:
Complex and well-balanced notes of dried fruit, wood and vanilla to conclude with a pleasant finish.
Finish:
Ideally suited to flavourful cocktails like the Negroni and Mary Pickford, but can also be enjoyed neat.
