Compass Box was launched in 2000 by the American John Glaser, who was previously International Marketing Director at Johnnie Walker. To promote his whisky, John travelled through London visiting pubs and bars with samples and, in idiosyncratic style, handing out business cards billing himself as “John Glaser – Whisky Zealot”.

Compass Box Spice Tree is a blended malt Scotch whisky that is celebrated for its unique use of cask types and its vibrant flavor profile.

Nose:

The aroma of Compass Box Spice Tree is quite complex, starting with notes of lemon balm and candle wax, complemented by white peach, mulberries, and light floral touches of peachy florals and airy honey. It finishes with a hint of green banana, giving it a fresh and slightly exotic opening.

Palate:

On the palate, the whisky is rich and syrupy with a waxy texture. It features honeyed sweetness and is layered with flavors of peach and hints of dessert wine and white sangria. Towards the end, there are nutty notes, likely hazelnut, accompanied by a hint of oak manifesting as dried cinnamon sticks, adding to the 'spice' aspect of the whisky .

Finish:

The finish of Compass Box Spice Tree is relatively short but rich, with notes of dried apricot and fading fruits. It concludes with a tannic sensation similar to white tea, leaving a rich and spicy impression without bitterness.
