Aperitifs based on wine and 100% Piedmontese bubbles: Cocchi has been producing vermouth and traditional Asti sparkling wines since 1891. From the founder Giulio Cocchi the winery has also inherited an inexhaustible liveliness and a qualitative research that leads it to be known and appreciated on five continents. All Cocchi products are based on wine and the recipes are those of the past, codified on the basis of the intuitions of Giulio Cocchi himself.
Cocchi Americano, for its nature, represents the link between wine and liquors being a wine plus a small quantity of alcohol bittered (“amaricato”) by the infusion of precious herbs and spices: white wine, sugar, herbs and spices infusion in alcohol and in particular gentian flowers and leaves, Artemisia, Cinchona, bitter orange peel, elderflower and others. To produce Cocchi Americano, white wine is aromatized with the extracts obtained through a cold infusion in alcohol, then refined for balancing the spices’ aromas and tastes.
Nose:
Fresh citrus aromas dominate, with prominent lemon zest and orange peel. Subtle floral notes of elderflower and chamomile emerge, alongside hints of aromatic herbs like thyme and sage. A gentle waft of vanilla complements the bouquet.
Palate:
Bright and bittersweet, with a harmonious blend of citrus fruits and quinine. Lemon and grapefruit flavours lead, followed by a touch of white peach. Herbal notes of gentian root and wormwood provide complexity. A subtle sweetness balances the bitter elements, reminiscent of candied citrus peel.
Finish:
Medium-length and pleasantly dry. The quinine bitterness lingers, accompanied by a gentle spiciness reminiscent of white pepper. Faint echoes of citrus and herbs persist, leaving a clean, refreshing aftertaste that invites another sip.
