Bushmills is home to the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery. Official records stretch back to 1608, when the area was granted its license to distil. Over 400 years later, whiskey is still being made in Bushmills, thanks to experience and craft passed down from generation to generation. We couldn’t make our whiskey anywhere but here. Our water, drawn from the River Bush, flows over beds of basalt rock. Bushmills is more than just a whiskey. It’s a village, where family, friends and neighbours work side by side at the distillery. As we often say, “without the village there would be no whiskey, and without the whiskey there would be no village”. Bushmills is named for the mills that dotted the town all along the River Bush. In the 1850s, the Crown imposed a tax on those distilling in Ireland through a tax on barley. Even then, malted barley was known throughout the world to make the finest whiskey, known as “pure malt” whiskey. When only malted barley is used in distillation, and made at a single distillery, you have the very definition of “single malt” whiskey. That tax, however, forever changed Irish whiskey, as almost every Irish whiskey distillery began substituting corn or other inferior grains for barley. Not Bushmills. To this day, Bushmills continues to distil single malt whiskey at the world's oldest licensed whiskey distillery.

Bushmills 21 Year Old Whiskey offers a complex and refined tasting experience that beautifully showcases its triple cask maturation process. The nose opens with aromatic maltiness, complemented by subtle nutty and toasted raisin notes, creating an invitingly rich bouquet. As it transitions to the palate, this whiskey reveals a considerable depth of flavours, intertwining dried fruits with a spicy undertone, all smoothed together by a hint of nuttiness. This depth is a testament to its aging in bourbon and sherry casks, followed by a finish in Madeira casks, which infuses additional layers of fruitiness and mellow sweetness. The finish is elegant and sustained, carrying through the fruity and spicy notes with a subtle, sweet warmth that lingers pleasantly, encapsulating the whiskey's aged sophistication. This whiskey is a testament to the craftsmanship at Bushmills, offering a sip that is as luxurious as it is complex.
