Ardbeg is one of the most famous whisky distilleries in the world, and for good reason. The Ardbeg distillery produces some of the finest single malt whisky around and has been doing so for centuries. The Ardbeg distillery is located on the island of Islay, off the coast of Scotland.
This 14-year-old single malt Scotch whisky is the second release in Ardbeg's Anthology series, matured in a combination of Madeira and bourbon casks, offering a harmonious balance of sweetness and smokiness.
Nose:
Rich, sweet, aromatic, and fruity, with aromas of baked banana bread and syrupy sponge pudding. Notes of treacle lead into a distinctive scent of burning cedarwood. Adding water releases an abundance of tropical fruits, with eucalyptus oil mingling with soft, aromatic smoke.
Palate:
Zesty notes of lime and sweet peaches traverse the palate, followed by a crescendo of dark chocolate, peppermint fondant, and clove. A hint of camphor accompanies the lingering, smoky aftertaste.
Finish:
The finish is medium and dry, leaving a smoky foundation accented with hints of brine, reduced honey, and a cool menthol sensation.
