Carefully matured for over 10 years at William Grant & Sons Lowland distillery, perched on the intense environs of the Ayrshire coast, Scotland. Some of our whiskies are aged in a warehouse located by the sea. This impacts the maturation process and delivers a smooth whisky with a hint of sea salt. Further inland, our whiskies mature in warehouses where the sea has less of an influence on flavour. These whiskies are more peated, and have a rich and smoky character.
Described as ‘Smooth and Easy’, the Aerstone Sea Cask is crafted to be an accessible entry into single malts, ideal for both new whisky drinkers and those who prefer a milder flavor profile. It’s not overly complex, which makes it particularly moreish and easy to enjoy.
Nose:
The Aerstone Sea Cask opens with a nose of creamy vanilla fudge and barley sugar sweetness, complemented by subtle hints of distant orange citrus. This combination offers a pleasantly sweet and inviting aroma that sets the stage for the flavors to follow.
Palate:
On the palate, this whisky is characterized by its light and smooth texture. Flavors of vanilla icing and barley sugar dominate, enriched by sugared almonds and a touch of candied orange. Gentle oak notes subtly emerge, adding complexity without overpowering the delicate balance of sweetness.
Finish:
The finish of the Aerstone Sea Cask is long and lingering, with the sweet vanilla and oak flavors taking their time to fade, leaving a faint salty note at the end. This subtle maritime influence is a nod to its aging near the sea, which imparts a unique character to the whisky.
