At Aberlour we believe in substance over style. Our whisky is born out of craft, passion and knowledge that's been handed down through generations. Aberlour is generally double-cask matured in Oloroso Sherry casks and American Oak barrels before being brought together when mature and ready to make the final product. The maturation process ads new flavour notes and characteristics which mature over time to create our recognisably rich and complex Speyside single malt.
Aberlour 12yr Double Cask matures in traditional oak and seasoned Sherry butts, yielding a rich whisky with a golden amber colour tinged with ruby hints. The nose is soft and malty, accentuated by fruity red apple and subtle spicy notes. On the palate, this Scotch presents a harmonious blend of sherried character and chocolate richness, alongside flavours of maple syrup, brown sugar, and nutmeg, creating a satisfying depth. The finish is warm, lingering, and sweetly spicy, providing a well-rounded tasting experience that highlights Aberlour's adept use of double cask maturation to achieve a complex flavour profile.
Nose:
The aroma is soft and rounded, prominently featuring fruity notes of red apple. Additional scents include a complex array of buttery cinnamon toast, raisins, and glacé cherry.
Palate:
The taste is a well-balanced blend of sweet and earthy flavours. Expect to find a mix of maple syrup, brown sugar, plump raisins, and nutmeg. These sweet notes are balanced with a fine sherried character and hints of rich chocolate, contributing to a medium-bodied, straightforward, and flavourful profile.
Finish:
The finish is warm and lingering, offering a sweetly spicy flourish that provides a satisfying conclusion to the tasting experience.
