14.00% alc vol Sugar g/l: N/A
Type: Red Wine Cellaring Potential: 20 yrs+
Origin: Swartland Appellation: Porseleinberg

Tasting Notes:

"Has any brand in South Africa achieved quite so much as Porseleinberg in less than a decade? This is the best vintage yet from this steep, brutal, extreme schist-rich site and that's saying a good deal. Big, bold and intense, with incredible, almost feral intensity, incense, tar and black pepper aromas and layers of inky dark fruit. A stunning wine from a stunning site, made by a gem of a winemaker. 2022-35." Tim Atkin

The name is derived from the Swartland's Porselein (Porcelain) mountains, Boekenhoutskloof acquired the farm in 2009 and is managing a major planting programme based on organic, even biodynamic principles. Most of the grapes are delivered to Boekenhoutskloof, but winemaker Callie Louw crafts one exquisite wine from the older vines.

This Swartland property was bought by Boekenhoutskloof in 2009 and Callie was tasked with nurturing the existing Syrah vineyards and establishing a further 30 hectares thereof. The vineyards are planted on blocks of schist, a very hard, yet flaky and friable rock with a reddish, silver colour, perfect for reflecting that hot Swartland sun. 100% of this vintage is from the old block, which is the one first noticed by director Marc Kent, who uses it in his famous Boekenhoutsklook Syrah.

Fermented and matured entirely in large-format foudre.
