Tasting Notes:

Typically, Grenache yields a lot of fruit which dilutes the flavour, so we specifically wanted older vineyards which tend to regulate themselves better and have more developed character. The result is a wine with pure, bright red fruit and only two 500 litre barriques produced.

The new Horsemen range is broadly associated with The Blacksmith more than just visually, but is more of a full collaboration, including ownership, between Jaco Engelbrecht and Tremayne Smith. Each tends to his own specialty, however, with Jaco tending the vines, but able to get closer to the actual wines than usual, and Tremayne doing the vinification in the Fable cellar in Tulbagh.

Natural fermentation. 100% whole bunch fermented. 10 days on the skins and pressed into old vats.
