Tasting Notes:

A concentration of bright fruit on the nose that follows through onto the palate, that creates tension and excitement all at once. Nectarine, pear and melon are given depth by touches of spice, lemongrass and ginger, while hints of floral and scrub enhances a further dimension. Time in older oak, with close lees contact, has helped to give the wine breadth and depth on the palate and keeps the focus with a saline and savoury linger.

Haarlem to Hope is a blend of Chenin blanc, Semillon and Muscat. the varieties were brought to the Cape by the early Dutch settlers and were the first varieties to be planted. in the following years these varieties formed the cornerstone of grape growing in the Cape of Good Hope. more than three centuries they have been cultivated by the colourful people of our vibrant land. the wine celebrates a story of African hope and prosperity, a story that will evolve for centuries to come.

The vineyards are planted at an altitude in the old and weathered soils of decomposed granite and Table Mountain sandstone of the Helderberg or the Polkadraai Hills in Stellenbosch. These ancient and distinct soils of the Cape, underpin the quality of this wine, producing a uniquely African white blend.

All the varietals are handled separately. Crushing and de-stemming occurs before the grapes are pressed and then allowed to settle in stainless steel tanks. The juice is innoculated and allowed to lie on the lees. final blending occurs before botteling.

A percentage of the individual components are allowed to mature in older French oak barrels.
