Wildeberg is a Franschhoek wine producer set against the mountain slopes of the Cape Winelands. Known for wild ferments, textured wines and a strong sense of place, the range focuses on distinctive South African wines shaped by site, patience and a less conventional cellar approach.
Description
We’ve given the first vintage, 2023, a year in bottle to knit together before release, and we are delighted with the result. It is undoubtedly more approachable in its (comparative) youth than its oak-aged sibling, but it hasn’t lost any complexity - it’s just a different thing. An opening pithy lime salvo is followed up with spicy ginger notes, with the bâttonage adding to a generous, mouth-filling texture and nicely complementing the innate refined acidity on offer.
