Pairs very well with local venison complimented with elements of bacon, cloves and a stewed fruit chutney.

Low winter rains to start the season, followed by near perfect growing conditions, moderate temperatures and lack of heat waves during harvest. Vineyards remained very healthy and produced lovely bunches, smaller than usual berries giving great concentration. Wines are extremely classical in style, with firm tannin structures and lovely acidities. Reds are going to be great talking points in the future.

30% aged in porcelain jars, rest in old 500L French oak barrels.

900 cases were produced.

Waterford Estate is situated in the Blaauwklippen Valley on the rolling slopes of the Helderberg Mountain in the well-known Stellenbosch region. Winemaker, Mark Le Roux and viticulturist, David van Schalkwyk both believe a Fine Wine displays the character of its cultivar and a true sense of place. A Fine Wine should reflect the length on the palate, has a complexity of flavours, internal harmony between aromatics and the palate, and balance between its essential components.
