Roagna
Roagna is a historic and highly respected Italian wine producer based in Barbaresco, Piedmont. The winery was founded in 1890 and has been family-owned for five generations. Today it is run by Luca Roagna together with his father Alfredo Roagna, continuing a long tradition of producing classic, terroir-driven wines. Roagna is known for its very traditional approach to winemaking, particularly with the Nebbiolo grape, which is used to produce Barbaresco and Barolo wines. The estate focuses on expressing individual vineyard sites (crus) and uses long macerations and extended aging to produce structured wines with significant aging potential.
Description
“The 2018 Barolo Pira is bright, focused and linear. A bit light and nervy, as wines are in this vintage, but also expressive. Tobacco, cedar, mint, dried flowers and chamomile all grace this taut, nervy Barolo Pira. This is an especially ethereal Barolo. Very pretty, and it has plenty of drive. 94pt” – Antonio Galloni, vinous.com
