Roagna’s style is characterised by old vines, immaculate attention to detail in the vineyards where they do not use any herbicides or pesticides, with extended maceration and elevage. They use prolonged submerged cap maceration (around 90 days) to harness abundant, persistent and fine tannins. They also practice extended elevage for their Nebbiolo wines – Luca has slowly been decreasing time in oak in favour of concrete. Usually two to three and a half years in neutral oak followed by concrete to a total of 5 years. This regime is two years longer than what is common.

Roagna is a historic and highly respected Italian wine producer based in Barbaresco, Piedmont. The winery was founded in 1890 and has been family-owned for five generations. Today it is run by Luca Roagna together with his father Alfredo Roagna, continuing a long tradition of producing classic, terroir-driven wines. Roagna is known for its very traditional approach to winemaking, particularly with the Nebbiolo grape, which is used to produce Barbaresco and Barolo wines. The estate focuses on expressing individual vineyard sites (crus) and uses long macerations and extended aging to produce structured wines with significant aging potential.
