Lowerland Wines
We produce small batches of natural wines in a remote, semi-arid, high altitude region of South Africa. Lowerland is a mixed, holistic, family farm that produces a range of soil to soul products in a holistic, integrated flow. Vineyards are certified organic with Ecocert. We collaborate with winemakers who employ natural, Old World techniques such as whole bunch and natural fermentation, basket pressing, manual pump-overs, and gentle maturation in older French oak.
Description
Unique nose of mixed black & red berries followed by spices and a hint of Kalahari veld. Tannins well balanced on the lengthy palate, soft and rounded – not what you’d expect from a young tannat. Beautiful full flavour of black fruit followed by tobacco leaf, supported by a herbaceous freshness characteristic to Prieska.
Food Pairing
Will go well with kudu fillet with red wine jus and potato gratin with thyme and rosemary; lamb shanks with mash and seasonal veggies; or eggplant parmiggiano.
