Lievland
Lievland’s history dates back to 1715, when the original farm was granted to the ex-soldier Jurie Hanekom. Lievland lies on the western slopes of the Simonsberg mountains between Stellenbosch and Paarl, two of the most prominent wine-growing areas in the Cape. The climate, location, and soil on the slopes are conducive to the cultivation of high-quality grapes, and some of the Cape’s best-known wines are made here. Lievland is all about "the here and now", and their wines are made in a generous fruit-forward, well-extracted style.
Description
Made from old-vines ranging between 38 and 45 years old, the wine has a light straw colour with a golden hue, showing notes of white peach, citrus and pineapple on the nose. The mouthfeel is rich and ripe and is coupled with a vibrant acidity. Trying all the elements together on the finish is a compelling minerality. This wine has the intensity and structure to develop gracefully over the next 5 - 7 years.
Food Pairing
This Chenin can easily be enjoyed on its own, but can also complement dishes such as smoked pork, Cape Malay bobotie, or creamy seafood.
