DMZ Sauvignon Blanc

The grapes for the DMZ Sauvignon Blanc are grown on DeMorgenzon’ s South facing slopes. Weathered granite soils and cooling ocean breezes create the ideal conditions for this sensitive grape variety. The 2026 growing season started with a dry Winter, followed by a dry Spring. This led to early budburst, with the timing of the picks becoming crucial. Healthy crops were managed with well timed canopy management practices. The 2026 crop was harvested a full three weeks earlier than in 2025.

The grapes were picked in the cool early hours of the morning before being destemmed into tank for 6-12 hours on skin contact. Thereafter, they were lightly pressed. The grape juice underwent stabulation on the grape lees before being racked and allowed to ferment naturally in stainless steel. Post fermentation, maturation took place in stainless steel and neutral 500L French oak barrels.

Viticulturally, DeMorgenzon has predominantly south-facing slopes create a cooler microclimate in an otherwise warm region. This allows for the production of finely poised, ethereal Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay, as well as sophisticated, highly aromatic Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. In keeping with their vinous philosophy, the estate is farmed regeneratively, fostering biodiversity and soil vitality to create a balanced, living ecosystem in the vineyards.
