Light yellow in colour with a tinge of green. The nose shows a touch of vanilla with lime and pistachio. On the palate the wine has a hint of oak and fresh acidity with a long lingering finish.

Specifications:

13.50% alc vol Sugar g/l: 2.71
Type: White Wine Maturation Potential: 8 to 10 yrs
Origin: Hemel En Aarde Valley Appellation: Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge

Winemaker's comments:

In the most accurate and faithful way possible, our unapologetically wooded white wine mirrors the terroir in which our Chardonnay vines are grown. In other words, it is an expression of the low vigour, stony, clay-rich Bokkeveld Shale derived soils and the heavily maritime-influenced climate. Made using uncomplicated (not simple) winemaking techniques, this is an athletic, chiseled and precise wine. It embraces the very adult tastes of salinity, brininess and minerality, all of which are the hallmarks of the great and classic white wines of the world

Rating:

4.5 Stars - Platter's 94 Points - Tim Atkin

Specifications:

13.50% alc vol Sugar g/l: 1.2
Type: White Wine Maturation Potential: 10 yrs
Origin: Hemel En Aarde Valley Appellation: Walker Bay

Winemaker's comments:

The exclusive Art of Creation Chardonnay is even more complex, gaining its intensity from a specific site within a single vineyard. Elegantly refined in its aromas of fresh lime and delicate quince, the wine is also gorgeously opulent with whiffs of warm butterscotch and almond. On the creamy, exquisitely balanced palate layer upon layer of flavour unfold: rich vanilla pod, peach kernel, vivacious pear, a hint of white pepper … all enlivened by bracing minerality.

93 Points - Wine Spectator 94 Points - James Suckling 96 Points - Tim Atkin

Specifications:

13.16% alc vol Sugar g/l: 1.40
Type: White Wine Maturation Potential: 10 to 15 yrs
Origin: Hemel En Aarde Valley Appellation: Hemel-en-Aarde Valley

Winemaker's comments:

A tight, mineral wine with classic Hamilton Russell Vineyards length and complexity. Prominent pear and lime fruit aromas and flavours are brought beautifully into focus by a tight line of bright natural acid and a long, dry minerality. An elegant, yet textured and intense wine with a strong personality of both place and vintage.

Winemaker's comments:

Crisp and articulate. A potent aura of ripe limes and lime peel, brightened with ginger and almost jasmine-like florality. Compact fruit core in the mouth with honeydew succulence. The clean acidity holds throughout the palate in to the powdery, dry finish
