Winemaker's comments:

Deep, dense colour. Brooding dark berry fruit with dusty fynbos, violets and white pepper nose. Palate also rather closed and needing time to evolve with fruit hidden behind plenty of fine grained tannins.

Rating:

90 Points - Robert Parker

Specifications:

15.31% alc vol Sugar g/l: 1.5
Type: Red Wine Maturation Potential: 5 to 18 years
Origin: Stellenbosch Appellation: Stellenbosch

Winemaker's comments:

Medium deep purple red colour. Forthcoming spicy, blueberry fruit, herbal (fynbos) notes and white pepper on the nose. Great intensity and complexity, though in a lighter, more lifted style than usual and similar to the 2007. Palate also shows more elegant, firmer tannins with more mineral notes dominating.

Deep red, brooding colour. Intense rich berry fruit with some leather and spice on the nose. A little chalky white pepper and hidden hints of dusty herbs. Big, firm, focussed palate of concentrated fruit and spice. A very long palate. A smart, serious Syrah!
