A Case of Beaujolais

100% Gamay

Rating:

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast

Specifications:

14.00% alc vol Sugar g/l: N/A
Type: Red Wine Maturation Potential: 10 yrs
Origin: Beaujolais Appellation: Chénas

Winemaker's comments:

The 2015 Chenas Quartz has excellent concentration and character with plenty of forward dark red fruit. It's perfectly balanced and will age well over the next 5-7 years, but it’s delicious to drink right now. This is a great example of why the best cru Beaujolais can stand side by side most Burgundies.

Specifications:

12.50% alc vol Sugar g/l: N/A
Type: Red Wine Maturation Potential: 6 yrs
Origin: Beaujolais Appellation: Régnié

Winemaker's comments:

A floral undertone to the boysenberry and raspberry flavors in this fresh, lightly plump red. Herb, pink peppercorn and mineral accents impart complexity through the lightly grippy finish.

Specifications:

Type: Red Wine Maturation Potential: 10 yrs

Winemaker's comments:

The wine is an elegant, bright, and pure varietal expression that fills out the palate with dried black cherry, cherry pit, and tangy black raspberry along with top soil and dried herb undertones.

Specifications:

13.50% alc vol Sugar g/l: N/A
Type: Red Wine Maturation Potential: 15 yrs
Origin: Beaujolais Appellation: Morgon

Winemaker's comments:

"The 2015 Morgon has a clean and vibrant bouquet with perfumed dark cherries, redcurrant, a touch of gravel and touches of rose petal. The palate is nicely structured, brimming over with energy. The acidity is very well judged, quite sturdy as Morgon should be, no hard edges here but just the background "hum" of tension from start to finish. This is just a superb Morgon from Mathieu and Camille Lapierre." WA

Specifications:

12.00% alc vol Sugar g/l: N/A
Type: Red Wine Maturation Potential: 10 yrs
Origin: Beaujolais Appellation: Fleurie

Winemaker's comments:

The nose has a good width of aroma, starting floral then going nicely deep and a little soft – but not in a negative way. Supple, beautifully textured, nice bubbling, but not overt, energy – this is really a very fine package that drinks deceptively easily for its young age. Nice faintly herby structure in the finish as a counterpoint.

Specifications:

13.00% alc vol Sugar g/l: N/A
Type: Red Wine Maturation Potential: 15 yrs
Origin: Beaujolais Appellation: Morgon

Winemaker's comments:

"The 2014 Morgon Côte du Py has a very well defined bouquet, though clearly at the moment it is more closed than the 2014 Morgon Cuvee Corcelette. There is great mineralité here but the aromatics will need two or three years to fully open. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, very fine acidity, harmonious from start to finish with a caressing dark cherry and mulberry finish that lingers in the mouth." WA
