A fresh nose of red apple and nectarine. Great acidity but light on the palate. A beautiful balancing act between the sweet fruit flavours characteristic of Colombard and the token high acidity of Lowerland's grapes.

The farm, Lowerland, is tucked into the red Kalahari dunes on the Northern bank of the Orange River, between the Doringberg mountains of Prieska and the rocky hills of Niekerkshoop. Lowerland is home to a mixed farming operation with a focus on conservation agriculture, closed loop, holistic systems and the creation of good soil, a healthy environment and unique products.

Whole bunch pressed, settled overnight and then fermented naturally in older French oak. Zero dosage was added.

Aged for 6 months before second fermentation in bottle. The wine spent 14 motnhs on the lees in bottles before disgorgement in October 2017.

Food pairing

Pair with oysters or strawberry cupcakes.
