The name "Hermitage" comes from the legend of the Knight of Sterimberg. Returning from a Crusade, he repented for his years of warmongering by becoming a hermit, devoting himself to prayer and growing vines on top of the hills of Tain. As a legendary Cru, our Hermitage Laurus expresses all the characteristics of the Syrah grape variety.

A healthy flowering and fruit set in the Spring was followed by particularly damp and rainy July. Followed a very sunny and windy month of August which accelerated the ripening process and resulted in healthy, fully mature grapes with lively acidity. Harvest began on September 10th, 2014.

After alcoholic fermentation in a vat, the wines underwent malolactic fermentation in 275-litre oak Laurus barrels.

Elevage on fine lees over a period of 14 months.

Food pairing

Roasted pheasant with cranberry sauce. Beef stew with juniper berries.
