Tasting Notes:

A completely different aromatic profile is present here with much more sauvage character evident on the earthy red and dark currant scents that are trimmed in just enough wood to merit mentioning. The sleek, cool and beautifully well-detailed middle weight flavors possess both a bit more volume and noticeably more punch on the delicious yet entirely serious finish that is at once well-balanced and persistent. This lovely Gevrey villages is worth checking out. AM

Located in the village of Morey St Denis, Domaine Taupenot-Merme is now run by the 7th generation, Romain and Virginie Taupenot. The Domaine is spread quite widely throughout the Cote, boasting 13 hectares of vines over 20 appellations, striking a good balance between Grand Cru, Premiers Cru and Village wines. The wines produced by Taupenot-Merme in 2015 outperformed most of their peers at all quality levels.

The grapes are grown in a beautiful plot of 1.6 hectares on the rich, calcareous, marl soil mixed with pebbles of the Gevrey appellation. The vines have an average age of 40 years and the harvest is by hand.
