The color is pale gold with green tints. The nose is delicate with ripe fruit such as pear and white peach. It also has complex notes of beeswax, vanilla and flint. The mouth has a fresh fruity beginning, is fleshy and robust, and has good structure. It is balanced between a fruity roundness and mineral firmness. A very long finish.

The largest and most famous Pouilly-Fumé vineyards have been in the hands of the Comte Lafond and Ladoucette families since 1787 when the Comte Lafond purchased the estate from the illegitimate daughter of the French king, Louis XV. The estate is now owned by Baron Patrick de Ladoucette, a descendant of the Comte Lafond, and Pouilly Fumé has earned a reputation as one of the worlds great white wines.

Sourced entirely from the de Ladoucette vineyards: Le Desert, La Fontaine, La Belle Vue, La Crois and Les Bleus. These sites are considered to be some of the finest and most important in Pouilly-sur-Loire, the Pouilly-Fumé region.

This is a wine made entirely from free-run juice- the highest possible grade. This is obtained by gravity where the natural weight of the grapes allows a fine juice to run-off without the harsh action of pressing. It is made in a similar way to a champagne Cuvée where the wines from the finest Grand Cru vineyards are vinified separately, then skillfully blended together. The wines are stored on their lees to extract maximum flavour, and stirred on occasion to accentuate this process. The wine will be bottled after two years in the cellars of the Chateau.
