Tasting Notes:

The deep oxblood colour of this wine tells the story of a fine bottle matured Cabernet Sauvignon dominant Bordeaux blend. The aroma is reminiscent of mint and black plum as well as cocoa and roasted, smokey notes. Meatiness have developed on the nose over time. On the palate, the wine remains fresh with red fruit and mint notes as well as hints of tobacco. The grippy tannins are still prominent suggesting that this bold, balanced and full-bodied wine can still stand the test of time.

Bartinney is set on the dramatic slopes of Botmaskop alongside the Helshoogte Pass overlooking the picturesque Banhoek Valley in Stellenbosch. Established in 1912, Bartinney has been in the Jordaan family hands since 1953. Now Michael and Rose Jordaan tend to the 28 hectare farm with a vision to create excellent wines and reawaken the charm of the historic land.

The best estate selected parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes was chosen for the foundation of Elevage. The Cabernet Sauvignon harmonized with the Petit Verdot and Merlot to capture the essence of the vintage.

A well monitored fermentation with the addition of a regimanted Punch- down schedule.

Each cultivar was matured individually in French oak barrels for 12 months - 50% new oak. After blending the wine matured a further 6 months in the barrels.
