Tasting Notes:

This is an old-school version that plays to the austere side of the spectrum, offering a juicy core of plum and bitter cherry fruit flavors laced with sage, tobacco and bay leaf notes, which emerge steadily through the chalky finish.

Even though Alain Graillot has been making wine in this region for two decades, he has quickly established a reputation as the rising star of the appellation. His savvy winemaking has also helped the once flagging reputation of Crozes-Hermitage (sometimes called 'junior Hermitage') by lifting quality standards across the board.

100% Syrah from Graillot's 18 ha of vineyards in Crozes-Hermitage. The soils are gravel and old alluvium. Like all of his wines, grapes are hand-harvested and farmed organically.

Graillot ferments with stems for added structure and complexity. Additionally, he uses pump-overs in order to carefully integrate oxygen into the wine.

Aged in french Oak Barrel.
